President's Message
Let's start out by congratulating the 9 new hams that passed their tests at FARA's License-in-a-Weekend. Congratulations go out to: Andrew Bark (KB1KZS), Howard Burns (KB1KZP), Cindy Blondin (KB1KZR), John Blondin (KB1KZQ), George Melton (KB1KZO), Robert Phinney (KB1KZN), David Resmini (KB1KZM), Kevin Spearman (KB1KZL), William Weddleton (KB1KZK). Let's not forget the instructors: Peter (KA1AXY), Lee (K1GL), Dennis (KE1DPL, Sumner (W1VIV), Jim (W1EQW), and of course our nationally recognized Instructor of the Year Ed (W1NXC). Mary (KA1HGL) provided her usual outstanding refreshments and made the FARA shack look like home to our students. A terrific job by all! As I write this, last minute preparations are in progress for the Spring FARA Flea. The last report I received was 67 booths sold as of the week before the Flea. This is an incredible number of booths to be sold prior to the flea market. So many, in fact, that Bev had to request that Sharon turn off the booth registration page on the web site. This is the best booth sales report I have seen since I have been associated with FARA. It should be a gala event! I just wish I could be there. Unfortunately, my next trip to FARA territory will not be until a couple of weeks after the Flea. Nice work, Bev! The New England QSO Party is May 1-2. This contest has grown like crazy in the two years of its existence and gets participation from all over the world. FARA is a prime sponsor of the event. We sponsor a plaque and give a lobster dinner, delivered overnight by Legal Seafood, to the grand prize winner. Leo and company: Let's make sure the radio and amplifier get plenty of use on that weekend! I will be doing the contest from California so listen for me. All of the details are posted at www.neqp.org.
